Robert Jason Silliker B.Sc.Eng., P.Eng. is an Ontario accredited professional engineer located in Ottawa Canada.

While studying Geomatics Engineering, Cadastral Option, at the University of New Brunswick, Robert worked as a land surveyor in the Canadian maritime province of Prince Edward Island.

After graduating in the year 2000, he moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, where he began a 23 year career with the Department of Natural Resources (NRCan) of the government of Canada. NRCan is responsible for Canada’s natural resources, earth sciences, mapping and more.

During his time at NRCan, Robert became an industry leader in absolute gravity, GNSS systems’ measurements and permanent GNSS tracking site design and installation.

He was a Senior Geodetic field engineer for the Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) managing most national scale field projects for CGS. This included the installation and maintenance of GNSS tracking sites, conducting the measurements to update Canadian Gravity datum, as well as conducting observations for the passive GNSS network for all of Canada in addition to other geodetic measurements.

From 2009 to 2023, he provided gravity and heighting measurements to aid in the Canadian National Research Council’s effort to redefine the kilogram for the world via their Watt Balance experiment.

In 2023 Robert launched Silliker Geodetic Services Inc. in order to offer highly specialized geodetic services and support the scientific community at large.
